The Golden Sun City of Mesopotamia, Mardin or as it is known locally these days - Merdin; A ancient City of the fortress, with a stone bridge connecting antiquity with the future. Mardin, through the ages, opened its stone gates to Sumerians, Persians, Akkadians, Hurrians, Arameans, and Assyrians. Since 4500 B.C. many different cultures, many different stories have lived on this land.

Throughout the Centuries, ancient battlefields have seen more than 28 different civilizations fighting for the sovereignty of this heavenly realm. Each of those cultures from the times of the Silk Road has left their own signature, traces of their own identity, art, and crafts.

Today, Muslims, Christians, Jews, Syriacs, Yazidis, Chaldeans all live together in the houses of Mardin, carved into the ancient stone. Hospitality thrives throughout the whole city that has been a home to people of different languages and religions for thousands of years.

The latest Collection of Luna Merdin is inspired by Artuqids. Ruling between the 12th and 15th centuries, Artuqid Dynasty turned each of the cities of Mardin, Harput and Hasankeyf into science, culture and art centres in Mesopotamia. Artefacts, mosques, madrasahs, baths, bridges and many more Artuqids architectural works and their artistic designs survived to the present day as a legacy. The octagonal figure representing the eight heavenly gates shaped the main architectural concept and symbols.
