Mesele

Actually, there are many high-quality products made in our country…
Actually, there are so many crafts we have forgotten about…
Actually, maybe the newest does not mean the best…
Actually, even if people may seem very different, they have very similar needs…
Actually, everybody feels the need to express themselves somehow…

And so this is why we have Mesele!

A PERSONAL MATTER
I believe that to be successful, you need to find a matter that you believe in. For the past 20 years I have seen Turkey export, its wealth to the rest of the world in the form of its quality raw materials, which have been more appreciated abroad than in our own country, a fact which has always saddened me. My personal matter has been to take our cultural richness, along with our high quality and original materials, and combine them with traditional methods practiced for thousands of years and gives better results even than today’s technology to create a new brand.

A UNIVERSAL MATTER
The need to express ourselves and to attribute meaning to objects is an integral part of our existence. It is for this reason that the first humans drew paintings on cave walls. It is for this reason that Anatolian Kilims have used the same symbols for the past four thousand years. It is for this reason that all natives and tribes, from the Aborigines to the Vikings, that every civilization has its own unique symbols. Irrespective of geography, race or language, symbols represent mankind’s need to express itself. The forms have changed, but not our needs; perhaps this is a reminder of how similar to each other we really are...

A MATTER OF SUSTAINABILITY
We consume. Without a break, without thinking, even while we are breathing, we are always consuming. We consume believing that everything has been created for us. Do you believe that we can at least start consuming without destroying? We are trying to keep alive traditional fabrics and objects, and the traditional methods from our ancestors, along with crafts and the craftsmanship. Yes, the days are now much shorter, and time moves much faster. But this has also increased the value of owning something special. So what do you say, instead of just going with the flow, why not try changing the times?
